Hawaii Lifeguard Surf Instructors, Halona’s Ocean Tours, and Full Life are hosting the third annual Surf Day event for people with disabilities on Wednesday, April 29.
Participants will enjoy the experience of therapeutic surfing on the Pacific Ocean, which is an experience many people with disabilities do not easily experience.
This year’s event is in loving memory of Richard “Ricky” Green, head instructor of Hawaii Lifeguard Surf Instructors.
The day includes lunch and surfing at Kahaluu Beach Park from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a special appearance by Mayor Billy Kenoi. The event is free of charge, but registeration is required and must be done by Friday, April 3.
Participants should bring a towel, sunscreen, hat, bathing suit, change of clothes, personal care items, sunglasses, a beach chair and umbrella if available.
Everyone is invited to enjoy our beautiful ocean and the exceptional companionship of the people involved in this event.
For more information or to register for Surf Day, call Deann Canuteson, Full Life president, at 322-9333.
Donations may also be made to Full Life, a not for profit organization that provides a variety of needed services to people with disabilities on the Big Island. Checks should be mailed to 79-7460 Mamalahoa Hwy., Suite 212, Kealakekua, HI 96750. Learn more about Full Life by visiting www.fulllifehawaii.org.
